Eid al Adha; The Story of Prophet Ibrahim & Prophet Ismail

I, as a moslem, celebrate Eid al Adha every year. The special day which also known as The Festival of sacrifice where Prophet Ibrahim was commanded by Allah to sacrifice his son; Prophet Ismail.

The story of  Eid al Adha was when one night on his sleep, Prophet Ibrahim had a message to sacrifice Prophet Ismail. At first, Ibrahim wants to obey Allah's command and hesitate to tell Ismail. But because his love to Allah is bigger than to his son, he, with hesitation, told Ismail about his dream. With a big heart, Ismail agreed to be sacrificed because Allah was command it. Ismail says to his father.When it was his time, Ismail suddenly replaced by a ram. The sacrifice, was a trial for Ibrahim and Ismail yet they both agreed to submit they will only to Allah.

The meaning of Eid al Adha is, every of us is Ibrahim. We all have Ismail inside of us. A thing that matter in our life. Ismail can be a person that you loved the most. Or it can be something that you really want to keep in this world. Either it is your wealthiness, the job that you have, or it can be your ego. In the end, Allah never command Ibrahim to sacrifice Ismail. Allah only wants Ibrahim to sacrifice his ownership to his son; Ismail. Because every single thing in this world belongs to nobody but Allah. Eid al Adha is about our belief and sincere of  every of us.

After 7 months of learning the meaning of life of this pandemic, I realised that we, as a human, have nothing to be showed off for. Some of us had lose the job, some lose their family in an unexpected time. Some of us were forced to stay at home, because this is the only way to stop the spread of  pandemic. None of us wants this to be happened, but Allah asks us to be patient. Just like Ismail who response to Ibrahim;

‘O my father, do what you are commanded to do. You will find me, God willing, patient’ Qur’an [37:102].
